Catarina Belim will attend the webinar “Global Perspectives: Implementation and Enforcement of Forced Labor Laws”, organised by GLCA Customs Lawyers Network, on June 28, 2023.
National legislations and government agencies across the globe are increasingly battling forced and child labor in supply chains through significant import restrictions on goods and due diligence requirements on companies and their management.
The United States implemented the Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act in June 2021, following a prior general import ban on goods made with forced labor in 2016. In May 2023, Canada passed the Act to enact the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act and to amend the Customs Tariff, while Mexico issued a publication of an Implementation Guide on restricting the importation of goods produced with forced labor. The momentum doesn’t stop there, as the European Union and Australia gear up to enact stringent measures later in 2023.
In this GLCA webinar on June 28, 2023, you can hear expert GLCA panelists representing the U.S., Canada, Mexico, and the EU, as they discuss how their respective customs authorities are implementing and enforcing forced labor laws.
